| Stealth Amnesty Amendment |

Senators Edward Kennedy (D-MA) and Larry Craig (R- ID) have
vowed to enact an amnesty program for millions of illegal
aliens, even if it means holding every other piece of Senate
legislation hostage to accomplish it.
These senior legislators have promised to attach their
Agriculture Jobs, Opportunity, Benefits and Security Act
(AgJOBS) to every Senate bill for the remainder of the year.
Their first target is the Defense Authorization bill now being
debated in the Senate.
Co-sponsored by Senator Barbara Boxer, the AgJobs bill (S.
1645) creates a guest-worker program that leads to amnesty for
certain agricultural workers. This provides a path to legal
residency for an unknown number of farm worker illegal aliens,
and then would allow them to bring in family members.
California's overburdened taxpayers just can't afford this!
Contact Barbara Boxer and request that she withdraw her
co-sponsorship of this bill.

While the media is forced to report on the staggering
budget problems faced by California, they have ignored the
fact that illegal immigration costs our state billions of
dollars each year. In 1996, the latest year for which full
figures are available, illegal immigration cost California tax
payers $8 billion dollars including funding health care,
education and incarceration.

What part of "illegal" do our Bay Area representatives
not understand? Common sense dictates that it is the
responsibility of the Federal government to enforce the
current laws and protect our borders. As your Representative
in Congress, I will strongly support the enforcement of our
immigration laws.
Local media does not report that over 2,000 illegal aliens
cross our border everyday, 7 days a week. Not only is
California bearing an overwhelming financial burden, but our
