Craig Johnson's Record of Shame
- In spite of a deep recession, Craig Johnson increased state spending last year by more than $10 billion. That’s a spending hike of 9%.
- Johnson also voted last year for the largest tax increase in state history – more than $8 billion in new taxes and fees.
- Craig Johnson’s spending spree has put the state $10 billion in debt and on a path for a $60 billion five-year debt.
- Craig Johnson was the deciding vote in the senate as the Democrats eliminated the STAR Property Tax rebate.
- Johnson was also the deciding vote as the Democrats imposed a burdensome MTA payroll tax on Long Island businesses. This new tax is stifling job growth and makes it harder to keep people on the payroll in this tough economy.
- Craig Johnson voted for higher utility taxes and higher health care taxes.
- At the same time Johnson was hitting Nassau residents with higher taxes and massive state deficits, he was refusing to pass a tough new ethics law or to force lawyers in the legislature to reveal who their clients are or how much these clients pay them. This refusal to reveal his secret sources of outside income made it impossible to pass tougher ethics standards.
