Campaign Website for Congressional Candidate

"Upgrading our website, online contribution and email marketing capabilities were great investments that greatly contributed to our successful campaign and continue to be important vehicles for maintaining the enthusiasm of our supporters. Red State New Media has been a joy to work with and continues to be a valued partner."

Michelle Marston
Campaign Manager
Bachmann for Congress

First elected in 2006, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann was the first Republican woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Minnesota. The Bachmann campaign recognized that 2008 would be a tough election for Republicans in Congress and decided that an upgraded internet presence and online marketing capability would be valuable tools.

On the Hill, Congresswoman Bachmann is a leading advocate for bipartisan earmark reform and a staunch opponent of wasteful government spending. Consistent with her common sense, conservative philosophy on spending, she expected every campaign dollar spent to deliver results. Bachmann's campaign staff identified Red State New Media as the right company to perform to that standard. Red State New Media developed the foundation of an online campaign that was a key component in a successful re-election campaign:

  • A professional website with easy to use, built-in content management tools. Customized from one of Red State New Media's existing designs, the campaign got a great looking website with many custom features, quickly, at a fraction of the cost of a totally custom website. The content management tools enable campaign staffers to keep the content current, without the need for any special web development skills.
  • A newsletter/email update capability integrated into the website enables website visitors to add themselves automatically to the contact database and enables the campaign to launch email newsletters and updates with a few mouse clicks. For one low monthly fee, the campaign can send as many email messages as they need.
  • An online contribution account that charges a lower than average rate on credit card transactions plus gives the campaign a variety of features, including the ability to sell event tickets or merchandise online, or set up recurring donations.

A major benefit of these essential campaign components is that once set up, any campaign staff member with basic computer skills is able to update the website, set up and send newsletters and email updates and administer the online contribution account. They have the tools to react to any situation quickly and effectively and to continue the campaign momentum heading into the next election cycle.

As events unfolded in the final weeks of the 2008 campaign, with the Democratic challenger bearing down, the Bachmann campaign successfully:

  • Easily updated the website with news and links to the TV ads that positioned the opponent for who he was..."A Democrat who never met a tax he didn't like."
  • Sent newsletters/updates that drove supporters back to the website to make online contributions... to pay for those important TV commercials!
